We explore how personal data is stored, used and shared by different organisations and the ethical and legal decisions that we face when storing data. We identify different causes of data breaches and investigate strategies used to safeguard our data.

Ethical Hacking

Using practical tasks and real world hacking software, we learn how to perform a routine penetration test on a computer system. We study the current legislation and trends relating to computer crime and hacking.

Digital Forensics

We take an indepth look at the digital forensic process from the moment a crime is reported through to conclusion at trial. We apply digital forensics techniques to acquire and examine data using a range of software.

Course Assessment

The assessment for Cyber Security is ongoing and there is no end of year exam.

Each unit has a practical challenge and multiple choice question set that must be passed in order to achieve the level being assessed.

We currently offer Cyber Security at Levels 4 and 5.
