This sleepover program allows children and families the opportunity to visit and enjoy the library after hours. Registered families will experience a memorable night with activities, stories, and snacks. Families will first join the facilitator to establish rules and expectations. The storyteller will then give a tour of the library to families and share the history, facts, and upcoming projects. After this the families will be lead into the storytheater in which they will receive a short storytime including a story reading, movement song, and craft. Afterwards families will have the opportunity to freely explore the children's area to play boardgames, work with manipulatives, read books, and or watch animated shorts inside the storytheater. At 10pm families will be provided another short storytime to help wind down through songs, rhymes, and a short story. At 10:30pm families will prepare to sleep with lights out at 11pm. Families will have designated sleep areas within the children's area in order to provide space amongst themselves. Librarians and security guard will be available at the children children's reference desk for questions and needs throughout the night. At 7am the librarians will gently make an announcement and reminder for families to pack up belongings, check out last minute books, and exit the library by 8 am. Participants in the program will receive a special pin to commemorate their participation in this program.
