Honor those who have passed in this Dia De Los Muertos Celebration
Time- Wednesday, November 6: 2:30pm-4:00pm

Families are invited to celebrate the Day of the Dead at the library. During the program families will have the opportunity to visit four different craft stations. The first station will be an altar with an explanation of what the significance is of the gifts presented on the altar are for. Here patrons will be encouraged to color a monarch and include the name of a loved one that has passed. They are able to add it to the community wall. Families are encouraged to write the name of a loved one or keep thier monarch. The second station will be a face paint in which volunteers will paint children and family faces to look like a Day of the Dead skull. The third station will be a marigold making activity in which patrons will use tissue paper and pipe cleaners to make the flower. Signs explaining the significance of the flower will be made available at the station. The last activity will be a calavera mask painting activity in which participants will cut out a paper mask and glue to a popsicle stick to make the skull mask. The alter and community wall will remain until November 6th.

Staffing:
2 children's librarians
3 library assistants
4 volunteers
2 volunteers will manage the calavera mask decorating while the others assist in the alter and marigold craft. The library assistants will be in charge of face painting while the two librarians manage the marigold and alter.
Budget:
$100 total for the program to supply facepaint and craft supplies. Face paint and decorations will be used from prior events.
