Cardboard Furniture Challenge:
A cardboard table (not just a box) to be used while seated on the floor, for sushi or game of chess, etc.
Max. Dimension: 1’ (H) x 2’ (L) x 2’ (W)
Materials allowed: Cardboard, glue, tape.
Must be able to be flat-packed for easy storage.
Must be able to be assembled without the use of any tools except hands.
The process of assembling and disassembling (into its flat-packed state) must be repeatable.
All pieces/ components of the table must be fastened, ie. no loose parts.
Must include an instruction sheet with pictures (no words) stating the assembling and disassembling procedures.
Evaluation:
Research and Planning (50%)
10 References of existing products for inspiration (not limited to cardboard furniture or tables).
5 Distinctive ideas of your own (hand sketched, with clear layout of the different components and methods of assembly)
2 Scaled (¼) mockup models using cardstock
1 Scaled (½) cutting plan of the final product
Final Product (50%)
1 cardboard table fitting all the criteria stated above.
1 instruction sheet
