The event was held ahead of the Aug. 5-21 Games in Rio. The all-marble stadium was used in the 2004 Games in Athens for archery and the Marathon finish.

It’s a strange scene for anyone visiting Athens in August as the city seems eerily quiet. The kiosks close, the roads empty and the city slows to a much more leisurely pace.
