TIMEDANCE HANSA

MASQUES AND PROJECTS

TIMEDANCE HANSA is a fluid sub-group of Timedance, which has grown out of Jane's expanding work pattern in the countries around the Baltic Sea. Created by Jane in 1995, the group initiates large-scale performance projects based around professionals and graduate students in any one area.

These projects have included two full-scale productions of Stuart Masques: THE MASQUE Of GRAY'S INN in the Ugala theatre, Viljandi, Estonia; and THE LORDS' MASQUE in the City Theatre, Uppsala, Sweden. Other productions include "SYLVILUDIA", a Jesuit masque written by the 17th century Lithuanian poet Sarbiewski, produced in Vilnius University and the Russian Drama Theatre, and "The Wolf Princess", a medieval theatre programme at the Medieval Week in Visby, Sweden.

Timedance Hansa performances have recently included a baroque ballet, "Les Plaisirs de Thétis", to Telemann’s Water Music (Vilnius, Uppsala, Ghent, Viljandi). Jane has also produced special programmes with Timedance Hansa for recent Swedish festivals, including “Fru Görvel och Riddar Lave” (Glimmingehus, Torup).

Jane has directed a reconstruction performance of one of the Swedish Court Ballets from the time of Queen Christina, LA NAISSANCE DE LA PAIX with Timedance Hansa in Uppsala; and other recent Timedance Hansa ventures are a programme of medieval song, dance and drama, “The Pilgrims of Montserrat”, and a commedia programme “Truffaldino and the Cake", both in Viljandi, Estonia, with students from Tartu University.
