Written in April 2008 to express the poet's frustration with his disintegrating relationship with the totem-muse Aubergine.
-----
I wrote her words so she'd understand
the sinking weight atop the sand
but I am not given to move on.
I made my vows and paid a price
but that doesn't mean I will think twice
about wanting what I want and what I need.
because there's truth 'round every bend
and it would be a lie, my friend,
to bury and forget all that we've won.
it lives and grows, with scuffs and starts,
like fearless souls and loving hearts
until it signifies the two are one.
I will not fade or fall away,
and years from now you may just say
I think he had it right, I had it wrong.
so this is why I play this song
to hold the line and pray she bears my suit.
not playing cute
or holding back
I have to speak the perfect fact:
I love you more than Gods can comprehend.
