Body, Wheels, Axels
1. Axles and wheels shall be only as provided in the Official Grand Prix Pinewood Derby Kit.
2. You MUST use the block of wood provided. Purchasing pre-made bodies is NOT ALLOWED.
3. Wheels may be lightly sanded to smooth out molding imperfections on the tread area. This light sanding is the only modification allowed. Beveling, tapering, thin sanding, wafering or lathe turning of the wheels is prohibited.
4. Axle slot must be visible. Do not cover or fill groove completely. Judges must be able to see the center of the groove. Official Axle Guards are permitted.Only the axles that come with the official BSA kit, or from item #17007, (replacement wheel and axle kit), or from the allowed colored wheels may be used. Single solid axles are not allowed.
5. Wheel bearings, washers, bushings, and hub caps are prohibited.
6. The car shall not ride on any type of springs.
7. The car must be free-wheeling, with no starting device or other type of propulsion.
8. Cars may not extend past the starting mechanism. If the front of a car extends past the mechanism, it will be raced backwards. If the back end extends past the mechanism, the car will be disqualified. The mechanism is a rod in the center of the lane.
9. No Magnets or magnetic devices allowed anywhere on the car
10. Graphite ONLY. No oils or silicone sprays permitted.
