It's that time of year again! Pack 270 is going to continue again with the luminaria fundraiser, which provides funds for various outings, events, awards, and other essential scout supplies.
If you are not familiar with luminaria, various housing plans are targeted in North Huntingdon to light up the streets with candles on Christmas eve. The cub scouts and families must participate in this mandatory pack fundraising event. As part of this fundraising event we will deliver the order forms, assemble the candle kits, and deliver them to the houses who have placed orders. Each order consists of 4 candles, 4 white bags, and enough sand to place in the white bags.
Here is what is being asked of the scouts and families:
The scout and at least one other family member (more help always welcome) must participate in the mandatory events below. If you can't make the flyer delivery then expectation is to be available for the entire duration of the assembly/delivery day. If you participate in the flyer delivery then you will only need to help with part of the assembly day. (Those who have participated before know it goes pretty quick with many helping hands and my kids have always enjoyed it).
We ask that those with trucks volunteer to help with the Luminaria kit deliveries.
Sign-ups will be first come first served on choosing what you want to/can participate in.
Skate Party Incentive: The incentive for your participation in at least two events will be a scout family skating party at Latrobe Skating Center Scheduled for Sunday, January 6th from 6:00PM-8:30PM.
Participation Event #1: Luminari Flier Preparation:
When and Where: Thursday, November 1st, at pack meeting (Stewartsville Elementary School Cafeteria) from 6:30PM-8PM

At least one family member (more always welcome) should be present to help prep the flyers (label envelopes/staple envelopes to the flyers). Please bring a stapler with you and with everyone's help it should only take an hour. After the flyers are prepped that night, you will be able to take the flyers home with you for your slot you signed up for and deliver them starting that Saturday Nov. 3rd up through the 10th as your time/weather permits. Participation Event #4: Luminaria Deliveries:
When: Saturday, December 8th (Snow/Ice Date Saturday, December 15th). Times 9:20AM-1:00PM
Location: Hamilton Automotive – 12671 US RT 30, North Huntingdon, PA 15642
We typically have those pack members that volunteer to deliver the Luminarias to show up at the build event so their vehicles may be loaded with Luminaria kits. The delivery volunteers then deliver the kits based on a list of houses that purchased kits for their designated delivery area. Typically pack members with trucks have volunteered for deliveries, but some pack members have used cars in the past. This is arguably one of the toughest of the Luminaria fundraiser events, but is a greatly appreciated and necessary component. The delivery of the Luminaria kits can count as participation in 2 events.
