Venice is a popular tourist attraction which is cracking down on the actions of its visitors. Due to a recent movement called "carrot-and-stick behavioral campaign" people visiting Venice can get fined for doing anything seen as detrimental to the city. This includes harming buildings and structures of the city as well as a actions that are against the culture and lifestyle in Venice. Fines of 100 euros are distributed for leaving 'love locks' on bridges, littering, and even horseplay which disrupts others. This is a small fine compared to the 400 euro cost of vandalism in forms such as damaging or graphiti to buildings and structures in Venice. Also, something as simple as walking around without a shirt will reward a 200 euro fine. These are a few amongst many different fines that can be given out in Venice and are used to serve as encouragement for visitors to act in an appropriate manner. These laws being formed are just some to the ways that venetians are working to protect their beloved city from a constant stream of tourism.
