Ruga dei Oresi, known as the Oresi Street, is one of the busiest and oldest streets in Venice. There is not a day of the week or time of the day that pedestrian traffic and noise pollution is not a problem in this street. Being such disturbing to the local people, but also to everyone visit Venice, this is becoming one of the main topics on the newspapers around Venice. I read an article about this issue on the newspaper called “ Nuova Venezia” and it tells about the protests and demonstrations of commercial people about plateatici. Some of the commercials and artisans have requested to renew the area of their plateatici, by increasing it one meter by three but their request was denied by the City Hall, and they were told that a fine would be applied if they didn’t respect the rules. According to the traders, these restrictions were not the same for the outlets and other tourist categories stores. Gianni Di Checchi, the secretary of the Confartigianato companies, called it «Una vera ingiustizia», meaning a real injustice, and he said that once again the activities of tourism were favored and their craftsmen and traders were penalized.
