In order to update and analyze the inventory of shops our team created an application called, Negozi. This application will make our data collection easier and more efficient. A picture of the app is shown below.
This application was created using Angular Java Script, a framework used to develop web applications and the collected data is stored directly in the Firebase, a cloud-base data provider. We populated it with existing data from the City and the VPC database on shops. In this way, the user can compare, update and add any necessary data associated with each store. Depending from the user’s location, the app gets the GPS coordinates and shows a list of nearby stores from the existing databases. After selecting a specific store, all the existing information associated with it shows up in the screen. If the information is accurate, the user takes a picture of the storefront and confirms the stored data. If the store’s information has changed, the user updates it as needed. Once the information is confirmed, the user can swipe through the list of stores and find the specific store they want to record. The information that the app asks for are: the location of the store which is specified by the longitude and latitude, the type of store which is categorized as residential, tourist or mixed, whether the store has plateatici or not, the number of tables ( to have an estimate of the size of plateatici) and the ethnicity of store if its applicable.
