The city of Venice has a history that spans over a thousand years. During this period the city became one of the most powerful republics in the Mediterranean and is today a World Heritage site. There are currently no digital sites where users can easily access, search, and organize a wide array of resources on Venetian history. To empower users to “make history” in this way, the project involved the creation of an accessible, comprehensive, and expandable digital timeline application. Users can search and view an array of sources, keep records for their research, and expand the dataset. As the application grows, it will become a one-stop resource and research tool of Venetian historical data for tourists, students, and scholars.
