Hello Again!
Sorry it's been such a long time since our last update to the world. Our team had taken a trip to Germany to visit the beautiful city of Munich during Christmas time. We had an absolutely amazing time and it was nice to have a weekend to get away as a team. After coming back to Venice we have been working around the clock on the project which keeps us very busy. Our return from Germany also gave our team the realization that the project completion date is quickly approaching. As you can see from the sidebar, we have left the teens of the countdown and will soon reach single digits. That is just for the completion of the project, the final presentation has been tentatively scheduled to be delivered a week from today. The deadlines are fast approaching.
We have been meeting with our advisors frequently to discuss all of the aspects from our projects from our deliverables to the presentation next week to the final paper due at the end of the term. There is much to do, but our group has what it takes to finish!
The new fountain data gathering is progressing as scheduled. It takes a lot of time to get out to the islands of the lagoon, but it does provide a different view of Venice then we are used to. Recently our team went to gather data on Burano which was quite beautiful with the multi colored homes. As the deadline of the project approaches, we are a little more leaning towards omitting searching some of the smaller islands of the lagoon to focus on the more denser populated islands and leave us adequate time to work on the paper and presentation.
The tech aspects of our deliverables that Will has been working on is going great and is approaching the wrap-up phases. I am told by Will there are only a few loose ends to tie up and he will be ready to present the deliverables he promised at the beginning of the project. This is great to here, great job Will!
As far as the historical evolution of Venice aspect of the project, it is progressing well, but has required a lot of time. I have actually personally been assisting Tom with some of the more tedious, non-GIS intensive work with the referencing to Dorigo and I can say it does require significant time to complete. This does not cause fear in Tom or myself that the historical evolution of Venice deliverable will not be able to be completed on time. We are moving along and getting more and more efficient with each day. The final product is looking more and more complete with each passing date.
