Hello World!
I am just here to drop some updates on our loyal followers (whoever they may be) before the Venice Atlas team is released for the well deserved Thanksgiving Holiday.
Thanks to the encouragement of our most wise advisors we have already begun the process of constructing our Final Paper we will be handing in at the completion of our project work. So far it is a very rough draft, almost a skeleton of what the paper will eventually be. It has not done through much editing and is largely for formatting purposes so as we complete the project we can continuously add and revise it. Right now there are parts of the paper that are pretty solid however. These are parts that include the Methodology and various figures/infographics that will enhance the overall message of the paper. Sections of the paper such as results and the conclusion are still just brewing in the heads of the Venice Atlas team and constantly being influenced by inflowing data. In the meantime here is what we have so far under the Final Paper Submission link to the right. Keep checking for we plan on updating to a more and more complete version as deadlines of the project creep up on us; the countdown gets smaller everyday :'(
Also our team was finally able to organize our project files in the Google Drive to be a little more organized :D These files can still be accessed by clicking the Team Files tab to the left.
Now onto more project related topics:
Petra and I are happy to report we have been successfully able to complete re-evaluation all of the known fountains located in the city of Venice with 99% confidence!
We are very proud to have accomplish this part of the task, but we have not stopped there. The process has already begun going out to various islands in the Venetian lagoon to gather data on the condition of fountains that were not evaluated by the past project team. The whole Venice Atlas team recently went out to the islands of San Erasmo and Vignole to begin this process. We have many more islands to visit and we are very excited to continue after break!
Tom reports that the Dorigio aspect of our project is coming along, but no specific updates at this points. For a specific update on the technical improvements that have been made n regards to the Historical Map Explorer - VPC connection to Atlas portion of the project I am going to allow Will to explain in his own words:
"I've finished with the Atlas-toVPC connection, so while we wait for our sponsors to be able to test it I'm starting work on the Historical Map Explorer"
Thanks Will, for those words!
On more non-project related topics, the members of the Venice Atlas Team is very excited for their Thanksgiving Break plans. Over the holiday Will and Petra will be heading out on a plane North to spend Turkey Day in the beautiful country of France. We hope they have a great time. As for Tom and myself, we will be going the opposite way via the train to Florence to catch up with my parents in Florence to spend Thanksgiving with them and the remainder of the holiday weekend visiting Rome and the Vatican. We are equally excited.
On behalf of the entire Venice Atlas Team, I wish all of our loyal followers the best Thanksgiving Holiday. Once we come back refreshed and with turkey in our bellies, we will resume project work and I will continue to provide you the up-to-date details!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
