Doc 2 : Oral comprehension
When he was a teenager, his closet was full of rules. When he was 15, he didn’t dress to express himself but to survive. He felt pressure to fit in.
If he didn’t wear specific brand, he felt invisible or worse : a target.
It was like an armour but he felt insecure.
A boy in his class named Leo couldn’t afford designer clothes and he was teased / bullied every day.
They were cruel and they excluded him. He was too afraid to speak up.
He wasted much energy worrying about other’s opinions.
Clothes should reflect who you are, not who others want you to be.
Question 1: What does Chirag mean when he says: "My closet wasn’t a reflection of who I was. It was a mask for others."?
He means that his clothes did not show his real personality. He followed fashion trends because he was trying to fit into society / blend in , so his wardrobe didn’t show who he really was.
Il voulait juste ressembler à tout le monde = He just wanted to look like everbody else.
Question 2: What specific event caused Chirag's "turning point," and what decision did he make immediately after?
One morning, he put on a simple black sweater and felt that something was wrong, it didn't represent his true self. After that, he decided to stop buying trendy clothes to impress others and started buying clothes that made him feel authentic.
Question 3 . Do you agree with the author that clothes tell a story about who we are? Why or why not?
Yes, I agree because the clothes we choose show our taste, our mood, and our personality. For example, if someone wears bright colors or vintage items, it shows they are creative and confident.
No, I don't completely agree. Some people wear simple clothes just because they want to be comfortable, not because it tells a deep story about their personality. Clothes do not define who we are inside.
Doc 3
The mural Nobody Likes Me was created by a Canadian street artist called iHeart in Vancouver, in 2014. We can see a young boy crying and holding a smartphone. Above him, there are zero likes, comments and followers. The artist criticizes our dependence on social media. He shows that likes can affect our feelings and self-confidence. The message is that real life is more important than social media.
