Deck logs provide a wealth of information on the Spangler's locations and movements on a given day. Among the many items of information typically found include: absentees, accidents, arrests/suspenions, honors & ceremonies, and receipts and transfers of officer staff.
A project was underway a few years back to acquire and post deck logs on the website. Copies of logs thus far include years 1943 through 1945 and 1954 through 1958. a few logs were made available by shipmates for years 1949, 1951 & 1953, but mostly only four or five logs. Only the 1943 - 1945 logs are being posted here for now, but more may be added later. Deck Logs for all years the USS Spangler was in commission can be viewed at the National Archives at College Park, Maryland. 8, 1944 received from Ted Smith. Special appreciation is extended to Ken Nolan for making the 1943 - 1945 logs available. These cover the Spangler logs during World War II.
