IMPERCEPTIHOLE (5 Jul 2015)
Later perhaps we’ll each have one body, not two, to live in. Reduced as before to the administrative bounds of individual biology. I’ll know you so profoundly, that memory’s machine alone will be enough to duplicate your presence. We’ll naturally split open and asunder like a dehiscent capsule, tense with excess content. So please don’t tell and show me everything, preserve a virtual bank of petty secrets, although my gluttony for details makes me a vast recording and inquiring surface. Let’s flee full mutual knowledge like the plague and stop mind’s cloning tendency. I’ve got a failing memory and I’m glad. This way the two of us, modest and humble beings, will cleverly escape the perfect hell of repetition. In extremis, I’ll train my mind into a sort of premature senility: you’ll tell me things and I’ll try forget, forgetting that when I tell myself “I have to forget this”, it means I still remember it. Next morning you’ll have something new to say, a new record to play, and we’ll be glad here’s another day when we aren’t content with just extruded, taxidermal versions of ourselves.
