August 2002 - suddenly very heavy rains turned whole region, including Bitterfeld, into catastrophic region. The water level of the Elbe at Dresden reached a level of 9.40 m and also Bitterfeld got more water it can take. As miracle abandoned brown coal mining site saved a city as it took a lot of water and now we have one of the best venue in the world for boat racing. Every year citizens of the region are thanking mine site with great festival - Goitzschefest. Now it is 11. time. Tenth time we are having great power boating event: Bitterfeld GP.

This great event is final round of the Hydro GP 2013. Two classes (F-125 and F-250) are giving to us two European champions and it is also fourth round for F-500 World Championship, where two rounds are still coming.

F-125. Italian two times World Champion Manuel Zambelli is leading championship with 52 points. Four times European Champion in this class Henryk Synoracki from Poland having 50 points is not giving title easy. You can be sure.

F-250. Last year World Champion Lembit Aaslav-Kaasik was unlucky some weeks ago at World Championship, but leading European Championship with 50 points is making him biggest favorite for the title. Wayne Turner from UK with 47 points and David Loukotka from Czech Republic with 45 points are surely making Estonian driver nervous. Four time class World Champion René Behncke from Dessau has no idea to compete. He just don't have even theoretical chance to get medal this year.

F-500. Three drivers are this year better than others. World Championship leader after half of the rounds is Robert Hencz from Hungary with 51 points. Attila Havas representing Austria has 45 points and Marian Jung from Slovakia has 40 points. Jung not got result in Roudnice nad Labem, but won two other rounds, which makes him favorite in Bitterfeld.

Keep your eyes open - race is going to be very interesting!
