The "Summary of the Antient Charges and Regulations", contains 15 items which every Master Elect must submit to and support before he is Installed as Master of the Lodge.  What follows is Item 11 of that list of 15.

The following text was corrupted by Preston in the 1781 edition of his Illustration of Maonry.

Webb took this from Preston's (1792 or) 1796 edition and promulgated it in the U.S., in his 1797 and later works.

It was injected into the UGLE Constitution without GL consent by Sussex in 1827.

"You admit that it is not in the power of any man, or body of men, to make innovation in the body of Masonry."

This text is used by the following Grand Lodges:

USA:       GLFL GLKY GLMI GLOH

Canada: GLCPO GLMB GLNL GLNS GLPE

World:     GLPI

The following is the authentic text as corrected by the UGLE on 1986.12.10:

"You admit that it is not in the power of any Man or Body of Men to make any Alteration or Innovation in the Body of Masonry without the consent first obtained of the Grand Lodge."

This corrected text is used by the following Grand Lodges:

USA:       GLAZ GLCT GLMA GLNY

Canada: GLBCY 1988.06.23

World:     UGLE    1986.12.10

The following Grand Lodges use neither of the two above versions:

GLPA   "You admit that it is not in the power of any man, or body of men, to make innovation in the Landmarks of Masonry."
