1723 Anderson's General Regulations -- Summarized

1 GM, DGM right in lodges.

2 WM right to call meetings, preside, etc.

3 Lodge Bylaws and Minute Book.

4 Initiation: no more than 5 at a time, minimum age 25, must be his own master.

5 One month notice and character inquiry for initiation or lodge membership.

6 Unanimous consent for initiation or lodge membership.

7 New members to make charity payments and promise to submit to constitution, charges, regulations, usages.

8 No set of members can split off and form new lodge without GM.

9 Misbehaviour by a brother.

10 Majority of lodge members present to instruct Master on representation in GL.

11 Lodges to use uniform usages, if possible, and visit to learn.

12 GL composition (Masters and Wardens) and voting (majority) -- Quarterly Communication (dates).

13 Appeal to Annual Meeting, returns, clerk and tyler must not be a GL member.

14 Who presides when both GM and DGM are absent.

15 Who acts as G Wardens.

16 Business to go to GM via DGM.

17 Cannot hold G. office and Principal lodge office concurrently.

18 Absence and replacement of DGM.

19 GM abuse of power.

20 GM, DGM, GWs to visit the lodges

21 Death or disability replacement of GM.

22 GL Annual Communication and Feast place and date.

23 Grand Feast and entertainment.

24 Grand Feast arrangements and accounting.

25 Grand Feast admission committee.

26 Grand Feast door keeper.

27 Grand Feast table servers.

28 Grand Feast Pre-Dinner Order of Business.

29 Only the Masters and Wardens elect new GM.

30 Pre-dinner conversation.

31 After dinner the GL is formed in the presence of all the Brethren, who if not members, must not speak until allowed.

32 If same GM re-elected . . .

33 If GM not re-elected . . . nominate successor ... if not unanimously accepted ...

34 ... then new GM is chosen by lottery.

35 GM selects his DGM and nominates Wardens.

36 Elected new GM must be present or vouched for.

37 Any brother (including EA) may then speak or make motions.

38 GM to admonish the Brethren.

39 Every Annual GL has the inherent right to make changes, so long as the old Land-Marks are preserved. ... even ... youngest apprentice ... the Majority of all the Brethren present being absolutely necessary ...
