I'm standing along side of my NGT-18 f/4.5 Newtonian reflector made by JMI that I purchased pre-owned in January 2011. It is mounted on a chain-driven Split-Ring mechanism. I use it primarily for imaging Mars, Jupiter and Saturn and submit my images with analysis to the Association of Lunar and Planetary Observers. Good seeing from Jim Melka.

Image of full chain RA drive. A Hurst stepper motor is attached to drive shaft under the clutch knob on the right. The ring, which supports the heavy OTA, is moved by contact with the rotating rollers.
