Today it was my turn to lead which was a first for me, so I was glad there where only four bikes in the group today. The first point on the route was the small peninsula south of the Cliffs of Moher. We followed the narrow lanes to have a look at the view along this coastal track. The sea to our left was again covered in white horses and in the distance the waves where breaking onto a shelf of rocks that where hidden just below the surface. The track leads to a dead end just by a farm where the view out to sea takes your breath away. From here I followed the tracks to higher ground where the views on this clear day where even better. From here we could make out the coastline all the way down towards the Loop Head lighthouse we had visited the previous day. The track leads back to the main road where some care was needed to avoid the gravel on the junction.
A short distance up the road we came to the Cliffs of Moher visitor centre. The car park is entered through the barrier and we parked up behind the little ticket office hut away from the main parking area. It looked a safer place to leave the bikes. We gathered our things together and headed to the main entrance to the cliffs. It is free to walk around the cliff tops we discovered, the only charge is if you wish to enter into the exhibition area.
