Mobile Phone - If you take along an old mobile you can get a local sim that will give you internet access and some local calls.
In 2022 one from Smart cost 1$, gave you 5GB of data and lasted for 7 days. So the 3 weeks cost 3$.
We then used skype to call back to the UK (if you buy credit on skype it then costs 4p/min to call the UK).
If you are calling people who have WhatsApp then it uses your data.

Ride Hailing - These are apps like Uber that we installed on the 'temporary phone' and allow you to call tuk tuks. They find your location, you enter the destination on a map and it calculates the price so no haggling (we found them about half what we expected to pay). You can see the locations of the local tuk tuks, one then 'accepts' your ride. You are given their 'number' and can view their progress towards you on the map.
PassApp or Grab seem to be the 2 most used in Cambodia (Grab also is used in Thailand).

As at 18/9/23 several people have booked this as the base in PP.

We will travel by bus from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville.
The recently opened 'Express Way' has significantly reduce the journey time.
It is then a 45 min boat ride to the island (in 2022 we hired a private ferry).
It is expected that we will stay at Tree House Bungalows (as in 2022).
In 2022 the hotel provided both Cambodian & 'English' breakfasts
as well as a Cambodian lunch.
