The VonBrick Brewery:

The VonBrick Brewery:

After brewing from cans of 'goop' i decided I'd like to make a decent beer and went the 'whole grain' route.

The results have been awesome!

This page captures my brew recipes, kit, techniques and ramblings.

Please see links to the left of in the 'burger' in the 'top left' for recipes and kit.

Note: I'm not prescribing how you should brew your beer! These pages are merely the ramblings of a bumbling buffoons attempts. The only advice i will give is: keep it clean, have a go and write down what you did! Good luck!

Cheers, Ev

A huge thanks to these folk who have all been wonderful to deal with and very free with their advice and experience:

  1. GetbrewingUK: Fantastic local (Portsmouth) supplier of grain, yeast and brewing kit and advice.

  2. The-home-brew-shop.co.uk: Farnborough Home brew shop: Some great bargains and kit.

  3. SS Brewtech: Shiny things.

  4. Ebay: Valves, pipes, connectors etc. at great prices, but 'caveat emptor' you have to know what you think you want and be prepared to wait and then be disappointed (not actually that often)!

  5. MS Paint: A wondrous tool and responsible for all my labels. But, those soulless MS drones are trying to kill it off. Fight the Power! DOWNLOAD it now!

  6. Portsmouth Home Brew Club (Facebook group of sage advice and camaraderie).

  7. Brew Builder: For shiny connectors etc.

Books:

  1. Craft Brew: A tad 'wanky' but a fantastic little book covering the newer beer styles.

  2. David Line: 1970's homebrew book, none of your fancy IPA's but a beauty of a book for old school brews.

  3. There are lots more, but the two above are my go to books!

  4. The web - enough info to drown in a lot of it contradictory! :)

Remember:

  1. You are King!

  2. Log everything you do!

  3. Tweak, adjust and learn for the next brew!

  4. Engage with forums other brewers etc.

  5. You don't have to take any 'advice' but is great to hear/share what other folk are doing!
