Future Perfect Story

It is a time far into the future. Time machines are a regular part of life. Ened and Havehas have a time machine and have been thinking about their past. They decide they want to go back and visit WILL during the time before he became a big star. They jump into the time machine and show up at one of his early games.

WILL is at bat. The team is changing pitchers and the new one hasn't shown up on the mound yet. WILL is daydreaming about his future as usual.

"I will play for the major leagues in the future," WILL tells himself.

Havehas tells us, "Since I am from the future, I can tell you what really happens. WILL is right about this. By the time he is 20 years old, he will have played for the major league for three years."

"I will play for several different teams, I think," WILL speculates.

"He's right again," says Ened, "When he retires, he will have played for six different teams."

"I will earn a lot of money," WILL thinks.

"He will," Havehas tells us. "By 2020, WILL will have earned 500 million dollars."

Will surmises, "I will never waste my money like some super athletes."

Havehas replies, "Nice theory, but by the time he retires, WILL will be broke. He will have gambled away all his money."

Will continues, "I will share my money with needy people."

"That's true," Ened confirms. "By 2019, he will have given 5 million dollars to charities."

"I will be the most famous baseball player ever!" Will proclaims.

"Well, yes," Havehas responds, "but he will be famous for his crimes, not his baseball skills. By the time he leaves the major leagues, he will have cheated casinos out of 30 million dollars. But no one will find out until after his death."

"Hey! The pitcher is here. I will hit this ball out of the ballpark!" Will predicts.

"Yes he will! And by the end of the game he will have made 12 home runs!" Havehas tells us.

The pitcher steps back, winds up, and throws. WILL hits it hard and runs around the bases. The crowd cheers and Havehas and Ened quietly head home.
