CRAFT MASTERS

On a Tuesday, over three years ago, at 1:00 p.m., a group of residents met in the Plaza del Sol H activity room. The invitation requested all residents of Plaza del Sol I & II, who’d like to or wanted to learn or wanted to teach knitting, crocheting, sewing, needlepoint, weaving or any creative activity to come to the first meeting of craft masters.

At that time, approximately twelve people came to the meeting and it was discussed what we would do.

Since then, Christmas decorations, Easter Bunnies and baskets, Uncle Sam and patriotic flags, and predominately religious crosses have been the main projects. They are made on plastic mesh canvas and cross stitched with various colors of wool in many stitch designs. The crosses measure 3,8, and 10 inches in length. They are enhanced with decorative white doves or sparkling petite crosses, anything pertaining to our lord.

At the present time, we have delivered our work to many nursing homes, prayer Band of Plaza del Sol. The Soup Kitchen of Wesley United Methodist Church, Faith In Action, Salvation Army, House of Faith, and any organization that would like to extend the crosses to their chapter members.

From July 2006 to July 2007 the Craft Masters has delivered 1,505 crosses, 91 napkins holders, and 90 book markers. That is something very worthy of the existing members of Craft Masters.

The wish of the Craft Masters is that more interested people join our group, that anyone who has the art of crocheting, will come join us and teach those who would like to learn.

What the intents of the Craft Masters at the present time is to go back to all the nursing homes in San Angelo and offer more of our creative designs.

That’s every Tuesday (except a holiday) at 1:00 P.M. to approximately 3:00 P.M. in the Plaza del Sol II activity room.

Please come and you will enjoy.
