The Plaza del Sol Prayer Band
The Prayer Band was initiated by residents of the Plaza del Sol in the year of 2002. They were people who believe in “Worshiping and Prayer.” So many prayers are needed for the sick, the lonely, the homeless, the poor, the friends, the enemies, the neighbors, the relatives, the foreign people, et al. Everyone needs a prayer.
At 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. every Thursday of every month, in the activity room of Plaza del Sol II, approximately a dozen folks meet, praying together for all they know who needs help from the Lord.
The Fifth Annual Celebration of Plaza del Sol Prayer Band proudly presented a dinner for its members and invited guests on Saturday, August 11th at 6:00 P.M.
On entering the activity room, eyes took in a glowing table of prayer. Its adornment consisted of an angel, Holy Bible, communion cups, candles, laces, flowers, and elegant drapery. The table was dedicated to Woman of the Bible, Ruth. One of the honorary members of the Prayer Band, Marky Cotton, was the designer of the resplendent altar. The candles were lit at the start of the celebration, a symbol of the “Eternal Flame Honoring Deceased Members.
The theme of the program of the evening was “The Story of Ruth” – a story of Friendship, Loyalty, and Love. Marky Cotton recited the opening prayer and welcomed all the members and invited guests to the fifth year commeration of the Prayer Band.
Reverend Eddie Nelson and his lovely wife, Beverly (who has a splendid singing voice) were guests for the evening. Reverend Nelson is the son of the Prayer Band President, Jessie Nelson. Beverly preceded her husband’s message with a beautiful solo. Re. Eddie read a portion of the Book of Ruth from the Old Testament, a story of love and devotion and every day need.
All people present joined in voice to the song of praise, “Bringing in the Sheaves”. They sang loudly and assuredly.
As Ruth was the principal individual for the evening, a person dressed in the style of an Israelite woman, way back when, was our Keynote Speaker, member Jo Ann Fuson.
Special guests were introduced by Ruth (Jo Ann). Of the fifty people seated, among them were Minister William Cory Grays and Johnny Walter, usher of Galilee Baptist Church; Reverend Eddie Nelson and his wife, Beverly of Church of Miracles; employees and director of Plaza del Sol.
Chaplain of the Prayer Band Ida Hicks gave the closing prayer.
The doors to the kitchen opened and the member in charge, Era Owens led the parade of eaters to the evening meal. The meal was prepared by all of the affiliates of the Prayer Band and it was exceptional.
At the present time, Plaza del Sol Prayer Band has 15 members; their weekly program consists of praying, singing hymns, and worshipping God. A table of food is prepared and served by the members after the service.
People in need of prayers are sent a greeting card and a small handmade cross. The caring deed is preformed by member, Mary Grace Szatmari. The crosses are made by the Plaza del Sol Craft Masters. If you know of anyone who needs a prayer, please contact a member of the Prayer Band. (Members are from both buildings. And let them pass the word along to those whose motto is: “Again, I say unto you, that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in Heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there in the mist of them.”

He Is God
He is the First and Last,
The Beginning and the End!
He is the keeper of Creation and the Creator of all!
He is the Architect of the universe and the Manager of all times.
He always was, He always is, and He always will be ...
unmoved, Unchanged, Undefeated, and never Undone!
He was bruised and brought healing!
He was pierced and eased pain!
He was persecuted and brought freedom!
He was dead and brought life!
He is risen and brings power!
He reigns and brings Peace!
The world can't understand him,
The armies can't defeat Him,
The schools can't explain Him, and The leaders can't ignore Him.
Herod couldn't kill Him, The Pharisees couldn't confuse Him, and The people couldn't hold Him!
Nero couldn't crush Him, Hitler couldn't silence Him,
The New Age can't replace Him, and "Oprah" can't explain Him away!
He is light, love, longevity, and Lord.
He is goodness, Kindness, Gentleness, and God.
He is Holy, Righteous, mighty, powerful, and pure.
His ways are right,
His word is eternal,
His will is unchanging, and His mind is on me.
He is my Savior,
He is my guide, and He is my peace!
He is my Joy,
He is my comfort,
He is my Lord, and He rules my life!
I serve Him because His bond is love,
His burden is light, and His goal for me is abundant life.
I follow Him because He is the wisdom of the wise,
the power of the powerful,
the ancient of days, the ruler of rulers, the leader of leaders, the overseer of the overcomers, and is to come. And if that seems impressive to
you, try this for size
His goal is a relationship with ME!
He will never leave me,
never forsake me,
never mislead me,
never forget me,
never overlook me and
never cancel my appointment in His appointment book!
When I fall, He lifts me up!
When I fail, He forgives!
When I am weak, He is strong!
When I am lost, He is the way!
When I am afraid, He is my courage!
When I stumble, He steadies me!
When I am hurt, He heals me!
When I am broken, He mends me!
When I am blind, He leads me!
When I am hungry, He feeds me!
When I face trials, He is with me!
When I face persecution, He shields me!
When I face problems, He comforts me!
When I face loss, He provides for me!
When I face Death, He carries me Home!
He is everything for everybody everywhere, every time, and every way.
He is God, He is faithful. I am His, and He is mine!
My Father in heaven can whip the father of this world.
So, if you're wondering why I feel so secure, understand this.
He said it and that settles it.
God is in control, I am on His side,
and that means all is well with my soul.
Everyday is a blessing for GOD Is!
I love the Lord and thank Him for all that He has done in my life;
Therefore I'm passing this on to you.
