The party continued down for several stories, finally reaching an unlocked, featureless wooden door that opened into a small cave filled with the scent of rain and salt water. Yellow sunlight flickered at the end of a door-sized tunnel leading out of the cave
Exiting the cave, the party found themselves on in the middle of a beach. Overhead, sunlight streamed through dark stormclouds. The clouds were racing across the sky, filled with flashing lightning but the thunder was very distant, almost impossible to hear. The waves crashing onto the sand looked dangerous, whipped into a frenzy by the storm; although they knew they should be getting pelted with rain and wind, all they could feel was a gentle breeze.
A few magics later, and the party knew where they were – they had traveled, well, millions of miles in order to travel a few hundred: they were back on Golarion, somewhere inside the Eye of Abendego. Some very strong magic must be protecting the island, keeping the storm at bay.
Beyond the small patch of sand they were standing on, a rickety wooden bridge led to a tropical island. Despite the distance they'd traveled, only a few hours had passed, and the Ravens pushed on, following a game trail into the jungle, only to be attacked by a a grove of man-eating
trees. Flying over the trees, Drumere scouted the area, seeing jungle and swamps, as well as several stone pyramids poking through the foliage here and there. The center of the island was a caldera over a mile across; inside the caldera, the going looked easier, with grasslands and hilled areas.
After first befriending and then routing the carnivorous plants, the group explored the closest pyramid. It had been long abandoned, leaving
only a pile of bones and gems at the bottom of a sacrificial pit to give any clue to the original use of the building. Moving into the swamps, the Ravens were ambushed by what they at first thought was a group of extremely large crocodiles; however, it turned out that the island wasn't abandoned at all: three of the dinocrocs changed shape, growing into giants with not one but two crocodile heads!
Finally defeating the two ettin were-crocodiles, their druidic leader, and his two animal companions, the
party looked for a dry spot to settle down and rest.
