The party explored the main hall.
They talked to Mormesk but didn't really learn much.
Eventually, they found a room guarded by a green-flamed floating skull and a large number of skeleton archers. Their foes had good position in a room with old mining equipment. Lots of cover and good use of light and darkness.
They talked to the skull, but didn't really learn anything. First off, the flaming skull didn't actually know much. Second, it used the phrase "If you were supposed to be here, you'd know the answer to that." a lot.
"What is the pass phrase?"
After a lot of faffing around in the entrance to the flameskull room, the party headed back to the entrance to the cave and had a long rest (level up!).
The party re-entered the mine and spent the day exploring the mine tunnels west of the main hall. They travelled through all of the caves, except for one with Dwarven DANGER signs carved into the wall.
Tired, the adventurers barricaded themselves into a room and attempted to rest.
In a cave where they knew there was an insubstantial undead creature with anger problems and mental issues, that turned out to be a bad move.
Sometime later in the night, Mormesk attacked. He was resistant or immune to most of their attacks (no-one has any magical weapons) but it didn't work the other way around. The wraith's life drain felled Rufilim in short order and took major chunks off the health of the others. Due to the negative effects of the life-drain, the cleric was hesitant to try any healing magic. In any case, the cleric was too busy casting radiant damage spells, which were the only thing really hurting Mormesk. It was a close battle, but finally the wraith fell, leaving the party tired and wounded.
