PACE in Action: A Sample Lesson

Introduction

Now that you have a basic understanding of how the PACE Model works, you can see how each step works with a real lesson. This lesson was designed to teach Passé Composé verbs conjugated with AVOIR only. This lesson was used to introduce Passé Composé to a class of first-semester French students. Before this lesson, the students had no experience with any past tense conjugations in French.

The theme of this lesson is Travel. It is a story describing the teacher's last trip to France. This story is a fictional, teacher-created story. As you will see in the Presentation stage, this lesson uses a picture slideshow (as a Powerpoint Presentation) to tell the story. Additionally, the teacher used gestures, props, and body language to make the story comprehensible.

You can also download this entire lesson as a powerpoint to use in your own classes!
