Sailing

Sailing involves the propulsion and controlled movement of a water borne vehicle normally by the use of large fabric foils called sails. In most countries, sailing is enjoyed as both a competitive sport and a relaxing recreational activity.

When you visit the Summerton area and nearby Lake Marion, you will find many areas to sail your boat, whether it be a small Sunfish, a Catamaran, or a larger sail boat with a fixed keel. Key bodies of water for sailing in this region include:

You can also motor down through the Santee Cooper locks and canals to Charleston Harbor, the IntraCoastal Waterway, and the Atlantic Ocean.
