Sick in Bed - Edith Sheinfeld
In his Yeshiva days, one day he was in the infirmary, and I told him I would come and pick him up (since we lived in the city). Two days later, he was still sick in bed and I got a call from Dr. Babad, alev hashalom, he was calling to tell me that my son was sick in the infirmary and he was doing very well. I laughed and said, "My son is sick, but he is here home in bed." He stuttered a bit…hopefully the Yeshiva keeps better tabs on their boys now.
Wake Up! - Rabbi Michael Azose
I had the hardest time waking you up in the morning in the dorm when I was the head counselor at the Yeshiva. I gave up after a while, I knew it was impossible (please see sleep comments made by Stewart’s mother). Stewart was also the best at learning the Rashi without learning the Gemara.
Get Up Now - Sam Biber and Sam Lipshitz
This story goes back quite a few years and it is one that we probably will never forget. Stewie still lived in Albany Park, I believe on Central Park, and we were sophomores at the Yeshiva. On Thursday nights, after a long hard week of tremendous shtieging and learning, after night seder we would go to the Lishka and play floor hockey for several hours. Because it was too late to go back to the Yeshiva we would stay at the Sheinfelds overnight. On this particular Thursday night after a long and vigorous game we had asked Mrs. Sheinfeld to make sure to wake us up so we would get back to the Yeshiva on time. We got to sleep on beds and Stewie had to sleep on the floor along with his brother Josh. About 6:30 in the morning, after what seemed like we had just fallen asleep, Mrs. Sheinfeld comes marching into the room and calmly informs us that it is time to get up, saying "Good Morning Sam and Good morning Sam". We slowly start to move and begin the process of getting up. Stewie feels that he needed more sleep and tells his mother to come back in 10 minutes. That wasn’t good enough for her, so she took the law into her own hands. Mrs. Sheinfeld starts to kick and stomp on Stewie and yells at him "Dew, get up this second or you’ll never get up again." Feeling sorry for Stewie, we started to laugh so hard that we almost cried. It was a scene that will always vividly stay with me for many years to come.
The Trunk - Edith Sheinfeld
By the way, Stewie, I still have your trunk here at home waiting to be unpacked from Israel (more than 33 years).
