Church Groups and activities
At St Clement's many people belong to a small group as well as the wider congregation. Here are some of our groups.
The Fellowship
Every 1st Thursday of the month
St Clement's friendly Fellowship usually meets once a month for fun and fellowship, often with a guest speaker. A couple of times a year it organises day trips and meals out.
House Group
Our House Groups are a place where people can discuss and explore the faith together. They usually involve a time of sharing, study and prayer.
People and Planet Group
Our People and Planet Group is committed to working for social and environmental justice. It organises events through the year. It has run conscious-raising events on the plight of Palestinians, Fundraising events, for the people of Haiti following the earthquake, it sells white poppies in the run up to Remembrance Sunday and red ribbons before World Aid's Day. It is also heavily involved in Christian Aid Week.
Grounds Group
Grounds Group is an informal and friendly group formed to assist in the stewardship of the grounds undertaken over
successive generations by people from St Clements. Check out our Community Event calendar for meeting dates.
Choir
Every Friday from 6.30 to 8pm.
The Choir is meeting every Friday for rehearsal. The Choir sings every Sunday morning for the Parish Eucharist, once a month for Choral evensong and for special events&services throughout the year such as Faure requiem at All Souls and Christmas Carols.
Lunch Club
Every 2nd Wednesday of the month.
The Lunch Club is a joint venture between St. Clements Church and our church school Chorlton CofE Primary. Its main aim is to reach out to the isolated elderly in our parish including those with disabilities / dementia and their carers. As part of the Chorlton Challenge Year 6 pupils come over to church, to assist with the clearing of tables, and the serving of tea/coffee/cake during which they have an opportunity to engage with the guests.
Thursday Poetry Church House Group
Every Thursday Afternoon (June-December)
1st and 3rd Thursday of the month (December-June)
Thursday Poetry Church House Group is an open group where everyone brings a piece of writing to share and takes turns to discuss each piece. Our definition of poetry is broad, including prose, hymns, quotations – any writing that has touched us in some way. We discuss each piece from our own current understanding, in a Christian context, though our choices are not limited to overtly Christian writers. The group begins and ends with a little quiet time and prayer.
For more information on any of these groups, please contact a member of the clergy.
