Vision Statement & Mission Action Plan

St Clement’s Mission Action Plan (MAP)

In 2016 the Parochial Church Council (PCC) worked towards a new MAP. We held a Day of Prayer, undertook a survey of the congregation, examined demographic data for the parish from the census, and used a consultant from the diocese in a PCC morning. We adopted a new Vision Statement:

St Clement’s Church:

Journeying together in faith

Serving the community in love

Welcoming all.

Journeying together in faith :

We all travel through life from cradle to grave. We will all face times of great joy and times of sadness. We want to be a community which supports and encourages everyone through that journey. God also invites us to be pilgrims. God wants us to grow as Disciples of Christ in the knowledge and love of God. We want to be a community that nurtures everyone’s spiritual life as we help one another to deepen our relationship with God.

Serving the community in love :

God’s calls us to love and to serve our neighbour. St Clement’s wants to look outwards to our community in love and service. We want to be a source of blessing for all the people of Chorlton and beyond.

Welcoming all :

We believe that God’s love is for all people. We rejoice in the beautiful diversity of humanity and we reject any prejudice. We want to find ways of sharing our faith with those around us, inviting people to join our community of faith and journey with us.

This Vision Statement does not encompass everything we do put it points to those elements of our life which we want to make a priority for the next phase of St Clement’s life.

Key areas:

In order to turn our Vision into a reality we have chosen six areas we want to see grow and develop over the next few years. To find out more about our plans link any of the six key areas below:

Children and young families

Growing in our faith

A sense of community

Community Centre ministry

Evangelism

Communication

Inclusivity Statement:

We affirm that the Church’s mission, in obedience to Holy Scripture, is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in every generation. We acknowledge that this is Good News for people, regardless of their sex, race or sexual orientation.

Access For All Policy:

The Parochial Church Council of St Clement’s welcomes and supports the principles of ‘Access for All’, designed to enable people with disabilities and older people to worship God in fellowship with other members of their community.

We are committed to a programme of improvements to make St Clement’s activities and facilities more accessible to all people regardless of their disability or disabling condition. We will develop and monitor our wider church programme activities and endeavour to ensure that accessible venues are always available for meetings held outside our main worship area.

We will ensure that all necessary persons are given training on disability issues to enable them to be fully inclusive in their ministry.
