Frequently Asked Questions

Need some information about SSI-related topics? Here you go.

First of all, I really appreciate all the kind words and feedback that I have gotten about this site. I especially enjoy the additions and corrections; rest assured that they will be incorporated as I get more time!

1) (This is the big one.) How can I get a copy of SSI game x?

Answer: There are various website that specialize in discontinued games. Check there, especially for PC versions. Commodore, Apple, Atari, Amiga, and ST versions are often available through emulator sites. Clearly, this is a violation of copyright, but most SSI games are not otherwise available.

I have had very good luck on eBay looking for old SSI games. The auctions can get pricey for the oldest, rarest titles. However, titles from the later 1980s on are usually pretty reasonable. Some eBay store sellers list new-in-shrinkwrap SSI games. What a nostalgia trip!

2) Where can I find more information on game x?

Answer: Search the Internet. I have a few sites on the links page, but there are fan sites for many individual SSI games out there.

3) Hey, you forgot about game x!

Answer: Oops! Please tell me! I'd especially be interested in game versions that I don't have listed. Be sure to let me know where you're from and if the game was SSI distributed or distributed by a local distributor. I have very limited knowledge of completely canceled games--like Afghanistan and M, and I'd love any knowledge anyone else has. Please contact me: clund@cox.net.
