Thomas' will:
"I Thomas Mitchel of Tilton Lodge in the county of Leicester, Grazier, being of sound ??? mind, memory and judgement, do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following “That is to say” I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God; and I desire that my body be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors herein after named. And as to all my Estates Real and Personal, whatsoever and wheresoever, subkect to the payment of my just debts, funeral expenses and the probate of this my last will and testament, and the several legacies and engagements as hereinafter bequeathed and specified; I give and devise all my real and personal estate whatsoever the same may be and wheresoever the same may be found, to my worthy friends Thomas Wadland of Hallaton, Joseph Webster Chamberlain of Syston and John Atkins of Tilton Lodge, all in the county of Leicester. Upon this special trust and confidence herein after named “That is to say” I give devise and bequeath to my natural child named David, who was born of Ann Goodman and who is now between one and two years of age, the sum of one hundred and forty pounds to be paid to him at the age of 21 years. And my will is that if my natural son David aforesaid should die before he attaineth the age of twenty-one then the said one hundred and forty pounds should be divided between ?? Thomas Wadland, Joseph Webster Chamberlain and John Atkins or the survivors of them share and share alike. And my earnest request is that the said Thomas Wadland, Joseph Webster Chamberlain and John Atkins or the survivors of them do act as trust and guardians of my said natural son David and that his maintenance and education and apprenticeship, or kindnesses and comforts or easements or indulgencies be maintained and provided for, by and out of my rents, profits, emoluments, bonds or any interests arising out of my real or personal estate, so as the said bequest of one hundred and forty pounds may be clear and exempted from all incumbrances whatsoever, exempting only the Legacy Stamp, as soon as my said natural son David shall attain the age of twenty-one years. I give and bequeath to Richard Chamberlain of Syston in the county of Leicester aforesaid the sum of one hundred pounds to be paid to him two years after my decease. I give and bequeath unto Charles ??? of Thrussington in the county of Leicester the sum of ten pounds. And I also give devise and bequeath unto my brother John Mitchel the sum of one pound. And lastly I do give, devise and bequeath all the remaining or remainder part of my real and personal property whatsoever to Thomas Wadland, Joseph Webster Chamberlain and John Atkins or the survivors of them share and share alike. And also nominate and appoint the said Thomas Wadland, Joseph Webster Chamberlain and John Atkins to ???? Executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this thirty-first day of January in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen."
