John CANNING
My Great Great Great Great Great Grandfather
According to the parish records for St Mary, Warwick, a 'William Kenning', son of John and Sarah Kenning, was baptised at St Mary, Warwick, in 1777.
I can't find a likely marriage nearby, nor can I find any other children of John and Sarah. However, a John Kenning married Ann Tidmas at St Mary in 1770, with the following apparent children: Sarah (1771), William (1773), Elizabeth (1774), Ann (1779), John (1779), Hannah (1784), Thomas (1784), Charlotte (1789), all baptised at St Mary. Was the 'Sarah' named on William's baptism an error, so that he is in fact part of this other family? It's very possible - I can't find a death for the earlier William, but that wouldn't be unusual.
