Hi All
Well it was windy today! About 16-18ms from the south as we were setting up so full ballast conditions.
The pumping conditions were pretty awesome and the speed coming onto the course was great. The more hills I travel to, I am coming to the conclusion that East Lomond is actually pretty good. You can fly with loads of ballast no problem, rewards technique and model placement and its pretty versatile for our prevailing wind directions!
The wind built steadily through each round with Dave’s wind meter reading 35ms to my 20, he was confident it was too windy! Solo launches became a bit tricky in rounds 5 and 6 and we stopped for lunch at around midday. The wind had continued picking up and first up after lunch was Ewan and unfortunately he pumped his Jedi into the hill and snapped a wing. He’s a brave soul and built up his Pitbull to go again but one last check with my wind meter revealed a steady 27ms so we thought it was best to call it a day and head for the Pil lars (of Hercules).
A bit of a shame as Mike was full on ‘horny for F3F’ and him and his FS4 were looking particularly good in the latter rounds. I’m sure he was pretty keen to make inroads into my lead ;0)
So the results were as below with me ahead by hitting the ground running and being consistent with all times under 40 and a pair of 35’s in the last round. Mike was definitely on it though with FTD of 34.98, if it wasn’t for him being hard of hearing and doing a few ‘imaginary cuts’ he would have been a good bit closer. George was putting the stinger in the right bit of air and flying very smoothly as always which was maintaining speed nicely. Ewan was improving round by round as was Dave.

2 Mike McCracken 4715.97 947.51
3 George Young 4532.25 910.60
4 Ewan Maxwell 4462.65 896.61
5 David Watson 4299.91 863.91
FTD Mike McCracken: 34.98
Some fast times today without any discernable thermal activity. I reckon there is a sub-30 in East Lomond given the right conditions….
I will have a look at the dates for the last round and confirm shortly.
All the best
Peter
