A good day today on East Lomond in glorious weather and a stiff breeze. The wind started around 12ms and probably got stronger (I didn’t measure it), which meant lots of ballast was in play!
As expected, it was a bit crossed which made base B very challenging and keeping the speed on following a good climb out was really difficult. There was some thermal activity but it tended to be short bursts and / or on one side or the other.
Unfortunately, Tim had a bad landing at half time so didn’t complete the comp but the old strega will no doubt fly again.
I was very surprised by the result, I thought Kevin had this one with a cracking 37.10 ftd in round 3 and plenty of other round wins. Indeed, Kev had it in the bag until the last two rounds. My boring string of 46’s and 47’s appear to have done a job in the end. George had a good day with his fair share of good air, a couple of round wins and a strong 3rd place. Ewan had some great looking round winning runs too and Dave’s FS6 was looking good all day with a round win in the mix too. Results below and spreadsheet attached for your delectation.
1 Peter Gunning 12296.04 1000.00
2 Kevin Newton 12217.15 993.58
3 George Young 11926.58 969.95
4 Ewan Maxwell 11901.95 967.94
5 David Watson 11552.42 939.52
6 Ian Simpson 11415.43 928.38
7 Robert Carson 10552.51 858.20
8 Tim Drysdale 3960.72 322.11
FTD Kevin Newton 37.10
Its great to have a turn out of 8 folks, with a couple missing. It really does make things easier so thanks all for coming and hope to see you next time.
Cheers
Peter
