Hi All

We had a good comp today on East Lomond in very pleasant sunshine with a windspeed between 5 and 10ms.

There was a fair amount of thermal activity around as ever on inland hills in summer to make things err interesting.

Early on I was calling the thermals ‘Dave’s air’ as he had a particularly good pair in rounds 3 and 4 with a 46/47 combo and Kevin also had a nice pair of sub 50’s.

Ewan had the best pair in rounds 5 and 6 with a 44 and 45, taking the lead from Dave and George also hooked some good air for a 45.

Mike and I had been plugging away in the low 50’s with a 49 each to that point. We stopped for lunch after 6 rounds and things were not so quick after lunch with much less cloud in the sky. Mike took the lead in round 8 with a pair in the low 50’s.

Mike took round 9 with a 52 and I took 10 with a 49 to move up to 3rd behind Ewan. It was all to play for in the last two rounds with the top 4 separated by 110 points. I flew a pair of 50’s to put Mike under pressure but he responded strongly with a 50 and a 49 to hold the lead and take the win. Ewan had less than good air and posted a 58 and a 59 slipping behind Dave who had a nice 47 in round 11 so Dave moved up to 3rd.

A good day was rounded off at the Pillars of Hercules for coffee & cake in the sunshine.
