The forecast was right, it was a lovely sunny day with a decent wind, but it wasn’t very quick.
A good turn out saw 8 of us on the hill and the early rounds revealed that to go sub 50 seconds, you needed a little bit of help from the ‘air’.
Mike and Kevin made good starts along with myself, but it was only Mike who managed two sub-50’s. This kind of set the pattern for the day, with Mike only having one 50.xx and all the rest sub-50. Kevin had a good pair in rounds 3 and 4 and settled into second place for the majority of the comp, but a cut in the last round and possibly one early on were quite costly in the final analysis. I had a few good rounds but just couldn’t get into a groove today, it felt like hard work and base B was very tricky all day (except in a thermal!).
George had a few good runs, a notable run of 45, 46, 47 and 48 but had some less good air too. Robert had one sub 50 and Dave had two, Dave also did the best fly throughs with the one in round 6 being my favourite of the day! He also made use of more than one slope by landing on a different one.
Ewan had a bad day until the last four rounds, which were all sub-50 and with a super duper 42.67 in round 11 dragged himself up from 6th to 4th and a very respectable final score. Ian had a good start with his Noodle and a nice 47.92 in round 4 but had less luck in the other rounds and an aileron servo want duff after round 10 leaving him two rounds short in the scores.
So a good start to the summer league for Mike, with an FTD of 41.23 in round 4 and maybe only 4 rounds without some good air, the rest of us took a pasting! To be fair, he flew very well too with no significant mistakes that I saw.

It was good to see Chris on the hill and it would be great if he fancied coming along for a go in future. Maybe Ali could forward on this e-mail and I can add him to the mailing list.
Next comp is May 14th, lets hope for more good weather, spreadsheet attached for your delectation.
All the best
