That was a good day!
It was blowing 12-14ms on the Bishop and sunny when we got the course set up. With there being just 5 of us, we decided to fly 3 rounds at a time with two fly throughs. Less landings and less running about beats the purist approach for our club comps.
The air was mainly good but got a bit porridgy at times, particularly early on and it was very rare to get a triplet of good times. Good times being sub-40.
Kevin won the first round with a 38, then Mike took rounds 2 & 3 with a 35 and a 38. And so it went for the four sets of triplets that we flew, only one round was won with a 40 and everything else was sub-40. Kevin got FTD with a 34.23 in round 7, just after lunch with Mike not too far behind on a 35.36. Dave did an aileron servo landing after his 9th round so missed the last 6 :0(
In the final analysis, Mike won 6 rounds flying EM with his FS5, Kevin won 5 rounds flying how Kevin does on the edge, and I won 4 rounds flying mostly reversals with a couple EM for comparison. And the results were:
1 Peter Gunning 12717.13 1000.00
2 Kevin Newton 12614.62 991.93
3 Mike McCracken 12595.30 990.42
4 Ewan Maxwell 11782.61 926.51
5 David Watson 7745.85 609.08
FTD Kevin Newton 34.23
I had a feeling it would be tight and that Kevin had it in the bag but it’s weird how F3F scoring works! I think the top 3 can all take something away though, I squeaked a win, Kevin got FTD and Mike won the most rounds!
Next comp in 2 weeks time as a warm up to the Welsh Open, I have agreed that if its West again, we will go for Kaim Hill / Largs. Spreadsheet attached for your delectation.
All the best
Peter
