Despite all the hickups I somehow managed to get to the point whereby I was ready for the bonnet job...
The bonnet already had a hole cut in it to accommodate an intercooler. That hole had to be welded firstly...
After that, the real hole was cut.
Then the skeleton of the bonnet bulge was constructed using strips of steel.
The reason I had to do this was all thanks to the extra height of the intake manifold pointing upwards. It was actually sticking out of the orignial bonnet surface.
The sports filter was used so that I didn't have to find a new home for the massive original filter box...that saved 1 day's work and sprots filter costed only GBP£20 including shipping...Not bad eh?
Voila!!! Here is what I made earlier...
not...
I just forgot to take photos. It took 2 weeks laying fibre glass and filling and sanding every evening after work...even at that I got impatient eventually. There are some rough spots which are difficult to see in the photos. It took 1 500ml can of primer, 5 cans of 300ml acrylic paint and then 3 coats of clear lacquer.
