So I got the Engine and the gear box out. This was a replacement of a faulty original V5M21 gear box which had to be changed to V5MT1 back in Feb 2008. I was on the ground in the rain and wind, all the flashbacks came back all at once as I was looking down on it...
The longer of the two is the V5MT1. It was a good gear box I must say, the one on the right in the photo is the Transit Gear Box.
Do you notice something rather disturbing here..?
The bell housing of the Transit gear box is HUGE!!! and the shift lever is way forward!!!
I guess this job was never going to be easy...
Much to my disappointment I started hacking into the transmission tunnel with my 4.5" grinder...

At this point o ftransmission tunnel modification I measured the widest point of the tunnel opening and the bell housing....
It turns out that it just was not enough so I had cut more and now the dash board is in the way...
So it went...out with the dash board...
I was so engrossed in the whipping out of the stuff out of the cabin, I forgot to take photos.
But here is the tunnel I welded up together, looking at it from inside the engine bay.
