Update, Update, Update: Sometimes a service dog and their handler for some reason doesn't work out. This happened for Molly. Molly returned to the ranch and has now been placed with a veteran with a heart condition. She has made a GIANT difference from day one. Her new handler is a senior citizen who is a military veteran. Molly has greatly reduce his stress and can even tell him when he needs to take a break due to a heart condition. Molly has brought peace and tranquility into the home while helping with her handlers medical needs, including getting the assistance when her handler needs it most. The best part of training a service dog is seeing the change that happens for a person who is able to partner with the dog. It is truly that, a partnership. That is part of what we do at TBI Seizure Alert and Recovery GIANTS. We are changing lives, one dog, one handler at a time. We stay in constant contact with Molly's new handler to assure that Molly has everything she needs! We will also continue to offer any additional or specialized training as well. Special thanks to all the supporters out there that have created Molly's care account so her handler will never have to worry about funding Molly's care! We couldn't do it with out any of you!Â
Molly's Story:
Our Alabama Belle! Yes, this is what we like to call Molly. Molly has a story that we only know part of. We know that Molly was born in Scottsboro, Alabama in May 2019. She was born a Pyrenees Labrador, often called Pyradors! Unfortunately Molly would have a tough world having 4 different homes, including a local shelter by the age of 8 months old. She needed stability and she need a life where she could be cared for and possibly care for others. After a 12 hour drive from Kansas, we knew instantly after Molly met Alexander, we were on the road to a good start. Molly had truly no training from the beginning, so that is where we started. She didn't know how to eat without fear and needed lots of reassuring that she was in a safe place where lots of love and good things were to come. After her decompression time, we began to introduce Molly to her new and exciting world. She began with walks around the ranch with fellow TBI SD dogs. Molly has a great demeanor and was happy to make friends! Potty training was gonna be a long road but being experienced with Great Pyrenees we knew how to help her become successful. Molly next enrolled in Canine Good Citizen while also starting her public access training that involves a community based socialization and exposure training that we are able to provide in collaboration with our business partners in the community. In short time, Molly has become a regular in our community and is well received in all the places she is training. She has mastered the 7 basic commands and is completely leash trained. She has now fully mastered the entire Canine Good Citizen program along with her service dog trainer, Gary. Molly has spent the last year in service dog training and can both detect and help her handler recover from a seizure. She knows how to sleep with her handler and how to prevent her handler from falling out of bed from a seizure or from falling down from a seizure. This means her handler no longer will need to wear a helmet. We have so many high hopes for Molly! Molly's handler is veteran with several health conditions and they are already a perfect fit!
