Sorry, couldn't get everyone to look...
... in action! Here is the 2018 Christmas Tree, in the Boise National Forest.
As of this month, we have two proud Boy Scouts of First Class rank!
Turkey, stuffing, mashed sweet potatoes, green beans with miso dressing and fancy mushrooms, brussel sprouts on the stalk.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte, anyone?
No time for play. Homework at night causes panic attacks, when boy scout activities need to be planned.
I want to wear ... for Halloween!
Decorations inbound.
Harry Potter, Roblox Spy, Flying House. What can we do?
Weekends are for checking missed school work. Rooms need vacuuming, clothes need laundry. The boys have been diagnosed with convergence insufficiency (eyes), and are having vision therapy three times a week.
We have limbs that need to go somewhere.
Still like stuffed creatures.
The raspberries haven't had enough water, but are still ripening.
The air has been smoky for three weeks, from the wildfires in California.
Still, camping at Stanley Lake and Big Eddy was beautiful.
Now, two eightth- and one sixth-grader.
Don't ask what he was thinking - he wasn't.
And a bad hair day.
Not much thinkin' here, either.
Summer vacation going North.
Farragut State Park in Northern Idaho was first. Then the Canadian Rockies. Three days in Banff were too rainy to take any photos.
It was mostly tourists anyways.
Bow lake is nearby.
Lake Helen is also nearby, with some hiking.
Not to mention Lake Louise, where this little Marten was enjoying the view with his family.
If you want to park at Lake Louise, come early, or take the bus from Banff. If you don't, you'll be waiting in line for hours.
Millions of Indian Paintbrushes, like this one, lined the roads everywhere.
The Icefields Parkway
This black bear was trotting right past us across a bridge near Wabasso Campground. "Wabasso" is a local Indian word for the snowshoe hare that is common around here.
The gorge of the Maligne River, and the lake above.
The Icefields Parkway gives access to several glaciers, including the Athabasca Glacier.
Going south again, we visited the Golden Ears Provincial Park near Vancouver. Camping among tall trees.
Our last stop was Mount Rainier.
Family photo in 2018.
Compare the one from 2011, taken at the same spot.
Upcoming: Preparations are ongoing for the National Oldtime Fiddler's Contest in Weiser, ID.
At the same time, it is camping season for our school at Elks Flat Campground with a game of D&D, and the next week at Pine Flats Campground near Lowman.
As usual in June, the weather is not reliable.
First time by the Snake River, below Swan Falls Dam, just an hour from Boise.
The rattlesnakes are out, and you don't want to be here in the summer.
Now all the rocks have names.
Birthday. 13.
Getting taller. Feet are already ahead. (I.e. bigger than dad's). Noah has started trumpet lessons.
To honor the new camper, a worthy spot next to a little lake near Prairie, Idaho.
Meanwhile, in a wooded area nearby:
Troop No. 7 2018 Camporee.
Finally! White mountains, blue sky, french fries!
Here is the collection. Collectors of ants (in their heads).
Another family member is doing other things.
Many practices. The Hallissey coed basketball team of Our Lady of the Rosary achieved second place! Who would have thought!
We had a little snow over Christmas, then no more. No skiing.
No chance to take Tina skiing. Photo on her last day, and she is back in Germany.
She did many things she had never done before, like using the number lock on her school locker.
She ate many meals she had never tried before, like Mongolian Hotpot.
She had a little sister and two crazy little brothers.
She took home new skills and memories.
Farewell, Tina!
