Welcome to the Web Site of the Boise Schwarthoff Family!
Please check back for new pictures once a month!
To play Weihnachtslieder, practice is in the mornings.
Halloween 2017!
Broken arm. Scaryyyyyy!
Sometimes happens
when you fall off your bike.
Helena, the helicopter pilot.
At the Gowen Thunder Air Show in Boise.
Bonmot 1
In the morning
Dad: Abraham, please put on different pants. I don't want you to go to school in torn pants. * goes and changes *
That evening
Dad: I asked you to not wear torn pants to school.
Abraham: You said to put on different pants...
Bonmot 2
Tina: I'm not going let my fun get spoiled, because I have to constantly think about what's good for me.
Greetings from our (four) children.
The new one, Tina, is on a semester-long visit to Timberline Highschool.
Have you seen a total solar eclipse?
This month, in Idaho! For us a once-in-a-lifetime event, with the beer to match.
Ask me for the video...
Here is our (shortened) vacation. 3200 miles to the sun!
Do you know where this is? Monument Valley
Nearby: Canyon de Chelly, where the Navajo Indians live ancient traditions (and run the campground).
Our destination is Santa Fe, capital of the State of New Mexico, and home to:
Meow Wolf. Nothing quite like it.
The famous Santa Fe Opera (Die Fledermaus).
The city is full of art.
All the while we are enjoying camping life in the nearby National Forest.
Endless road on the way home...
We pay a brief visit to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, and the Dinosaur National Monument, camping down by the Green River.
Eventually, a relaxing weekend at Bear Lake, in eastern Idaho.
We mourn the passing of our mother, grandmother, and tireless supporter, on June 14, 2017.
play Dungeons and Dragons.
Three kids need new German passports. Thus a weekend trip to Portland, OR, in pouring rain.
OMSI is pretty cool. LEGO art exhibition by Nathan Sawaya.
And, since we are here, a new recumbent bike. Can't buy this in Boise.
If you give me five thousand bucks, I'll leave you alone...
Snow on Good Friday.
But then three well-sorted youngsters on Easter!
Dancing in the living room.
Noah's "new" pants have been extended by the length his legs have grown.
Is there one for me, too?
Our first ski vacation. Visiting world class slopes in the Wasatch mountains near Salt Lake City.
Lots of snow at Brighton. I have never seen this much snow. 35 inches (88cm) of new powder just in the last two days.
It is kind of hard to ski in three feet (1m) of fresh snow, when you are only 4 feet tall.
It lasted well into this month. Boise has never had this much snow on the ground. Now it's all melted. (In Boise, that is. When it melts in the mountains, there will be a flood.)
Story time. Abraham is reading.
The Schwarthoff Family is now immortalized in Boise!
Come and see our inscription on the brick, on the newly made Grove Plaza downtown.
The brick can be found almost at the north end, in view of the Idaho Capitol.
We had some snow.
Next weekend, there will be some more snow.
An entire week of snow days!!! That's never happened!!!
The following week had three snow days.
And the week after that one more snow day.
Ok, this town has got to figure out how to run a school when it's snowing.
Ice and snow - bike path no use - had to ride on the road - hit by car - three broken ribs - one broken bike.
