SATREPS Workshop Series - 5 Safety and Quality Management of Advanced Laboratory

Outline: Health, safety, environmental and quality management of analytical laboratories are of utmost importance to reduce hazards, ensure safe and healthy working condition, ensure compliance, and increase data reliability and reproducibility. Towards the establishment of Advanced SATREPS Environmental Laboratory at the ITC, there is a need to develop policies and practices, train the staffs, and ensure compliance with the standards. In this workshop, presenters will briefly introduce examples of Good Laboratory Practice, and Occupation Health and Safety practices in Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. In addition, following topics will be intensively discussed;

1. management to avoid injury and demolition,

2. management to reduce health risk,

3. management to maintain instruments,

4. management to control stock of reagents,

5. management to reduce environmental impacts, and

6. protocols for quality standards.
