Trap site view from the blind, Caw Ridge

The weather is always very calm on top of Caw Ridge... recovering a trap that flew away to end up in the small lake in May 2001!!

June 2002... humm... well even though these traps weigh something like 150 kg, they did record wind up to 130 km/h that day!! One of the new traps ended up destroying an older trap, maybe it was a sign to reorganise the trap site a bit...

A grizzly bear having a rest in a ravine after feeding on a 7 year-old female goat (in the middle above the bear) that it killed during an attack on a top more than half a km above

September 2005, what about a little BBQ to tease a bit the grizzly

An unexpected too warm day in late May gave Rachel an opportunity to create a new style...(Caw Ridge 2010)

A happy gang after a funny slide in the snow on the north face of a summit

"It's just a small storm, let's wait a bit on top of Big Rigde and see..." Well, after a few hours of in and out, the storm hit for real, and we surrendered to come back to camp, where we stayed in for 3 days.

First glance outside after a 3-day storm in May 2004... there was almost no snow left before the storm, then the 3 quads weresurrounded, but anyway too frozen to start!

Early June 2007, Caw Ridge, it's been raining and we're in a foggy white-out... well, nothing better to do than shovel the northern trail that is still filled with snow, so we can drive our quads to town and have a nice shower... well, well, we didn't manage to finish that day because we only had one shovel left (yeap, we broke the others we had earlier that year)... but considering how wet we endded up, we did have a shower, just not the one we were looking for!!Here is a look at what shoveling the northern trail means... May 2002

Just another typical spring snow storm it the area that left more than 1 meter of fresh snow in some areas... time to get the shovels out again!

We do have nice weather some days too... and hours of behavioural observation sitting behind a little scope (Caw Ridge June 2006)

Tired field assistants walking back up the steep hill from Wonderful Escape Terrain after a long day - Caw Ridge May 2007

Catching some good shots after being surprised by the goats on the trail, September 2004

Trying to hide in vain after the goats surprised us coming towards us on the way to the traps... well we would be more successful with some trees to hide behind rather than grass!!August 2008

Capturing marmots at Caw Ridge June 2005, here #52 is about to be released

Well, I'll skip the details about the elixir we use to trap the marmots, but let's just say that it is so attractive that this adult female "Green-green" dares to come and drink it right from the bottle!

Marmot warrior!! Attacking our quads from seat and handles, to the wires... hard to keep a quad new at Caw Ridge
